Juve hold Inter, while Lazio overcome Genoa

The top two in Italy could not be separated on Saturday as Juventus and Inter Milan played out a stalemate. Meanwhile, fourth-placed Genoa saw a run of four consecutive victories ended by Lazio. All eyes were on the Stadio Olimpico this weekend, though, where Juventus played host to table-topping Inter Milan. Victory on their travels would have taken Jose Mourinho's side to the brink of a fourth Serie A title in as many years. However, they could only muster a 1-1 draw against ten-man Juve. Mario Balotelli fired Inter into a 64th minute lead as he benefitted from some fine approach play from Sulley Muntari. That solitary strike appeared to have settled the contest, especially when Portuguese midfielder Tiago saw red for the hosts with 15 minutes left on the clock. Zdenek Grygera had other ideas, though, and he snatched a dramatic equaliser in stoppage-time. Elsewhere, Genoa remain on course to secure a UEFA Champions League place despite slipping to a 1-0 defeat at home to Lazio. Mauro Zarate proved to be the difference between the two sides as he struck the only goal of the game on 65 minutes. Lazio move up to seventh in the table but appear to have left it too late to mount a European challenge.
