Argentina international aiming to be more of a team player

Inter Milan new boy Mauro Zarate has revealed they were always his first choice if he was going to leave Lazio. The Argentina striker joined Inter on loan with a view to a permanent deal next year on the last day of the transfer window. "Inter are a big club and one of the great teams in the world, they are different from all the ones that I have played for in the past," he told the club's official website. "This has always been my first choice."

Awful

But the deadline day move is not something Zarate would like to repeat again, as he revealed the stress that came as Wednesday inched closer. "It's awful being sold on the last day of the window," he admitted. "I didn't sleep for a week and that's the first time that's happened to me. There were only five hours left to the end of the window but then (Inter) called me and it was great. "No-one could turn down an offer from Inter and I'm ready to wear this shirt and play." Zarate has developed something of a reputation as a selfish player on the field but Inter Milan have come up with a novel way to make sure he works on that side of his game. "I will be a new Mauro, I'll change, I'll pass the ball more," he continued. "There's a clause in my contract which rewards me for assists."
