Inter president backing boss

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti insists that he is fully supportive of Rafa Benitez. Inter came up short in their derby clash with rivals AC Milan on Sunday as they lost 1-0. After the match Moratti reacted with some anger to the defeat and criticised the performance. "It doesn't seem to me like we suffered against Milan's play," Moratti said. "The problem is that we actually didn't play. It's a different thing entirely and much more grave. "I didn't like anything. One can understand losing a derby, but this time I didn't like the approach or the aftermath. "We didn't do enough to think about winning. This won't do at all. It was an ugly game and we did nothing because we became different." However, he has since dismissed suggestions that he could be ready to part company with Benitez. "Yes, he is surely able to [shake up this team]. It was not easy for him to take a team that had a lot going for it and that had achieved a lot. "The team is already in place, but it is not ten-years-old - it is only three-months in."

Transfers

Benitez has reaffirmed his intention to dip into the transfer market in January. "It is obvious that in January we will need something, but for now we need to get a win," he said. "Who could arrive in the next transfer window? All the players expect someone of quality to maintain the level of the side, a side that in the past season won a lot and therefore got tired and has struggled to start again."
