Former Inter boss Gasperini named new Palermo manager
Giuseppe Sannino has paid the price for Palermo's poor start to the season and has been sacked and replaced by Gian Piero Gasperini.
The 55-year-old Sannino only joined the Serie A club in June on a two-year deal but has led them to one draw and two defeats so far in the league.
Saturday's 1-1 stalemate at home to Cagliari proved his final match in charge, with Palermo announcing Sannino's dismissal in a short statement.
"We would like to thank him and his coaching staff for the commitment and professionalism shown in recent months," read the statement on the club's
official website.
"At the same time the club has appointed Gian Piero Gasperini, who will lead his first training session with the team on Tuesday afternoon."
Gasperini has been without a post since being sacked by Inter Milan last September.
