Marco Reus had to be taken off on a stretcher to compound Borussia Dortmund's troubles as they blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Paderborn.

Reus gave Dortmund a 2-0 lead in first-half stoppage time, after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring, before an ankle problem led to him being withdrawn just after Lukas Rupp pulled one back for the hosts.

The Germany international's injury was just the latest blow to a season that has so far failed to take off for Dortmund and Mahir Saglik's late equaliser made it even more miserable for the 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga champions.

Dortmund now sit one place above the drop zone after Hertha Berlin moved above them and if the remaining results do not go their way this weekend they could find themselves back in the bottom three.

Jos Luhukay's Hertha Berlin side are now up to 13th after a deflected free-kick from Marcel Ndjeng gave them a 2-1 win over Cologne in the late game at the Mungersdorferstadion.

Roy Beerens gave Hertha the lead in the first half, but Cologne scored a deserved equaliser through Anthony Ujah after the break, before Ndjeng settled the clash to pile the misery on Dortmund.

Things could not be more different for Dortmund's Der Klassiker rivals Bayern Munich, who immediately clicked back into gear after the international break and thrashed Hoffenheim 4-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski gave the reigning champions a 2-0 lead at the interval, with late goals from Arjen Robben and Sebastian Rode stretching the advantage before Hoffenheim's Adam Szalai got a head start to the dressing room with a late red card.

The win extends Bayern's lead at the top of the table to seven points over Wolfsburg and 10 over Borussia Monchengladbach after they both slumped to defeats.

Dieter Hecking's Wolfsburg side found themselves 3-0 down to Schalke after 25 minutes, thanks to goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (two) and Christian Fuchs.

Although they fought back admirably in the second half, with Ivica Olic and Nicklas Bendtner both finding the net, it was not enough to stop them falling to a 3-2 defeat.

It was the other way around for Borussia Monchengladbach, who went in front thanks to Havard Nordtveit after five minutes but ended up losing 3-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Marc Stendera, Alexander Meier and Takashi Inui turned the game on its head to earn Frankfurt three precious points.

Bayer Leverkusen leapfrogged Hannover to climb up to fourth with a 3-1 win at the Niedersachsenstadion.

Stefan Kiessling ended his goal drought by scoring the opener, before Son Heung-min doubled Leverkusen's lead.

Ceyhun Gulselam pulled a quick goal back for the Reds but Karim Bellarabi ensured Roger Schmidt's men claimed all three points and a confidence boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Monaco in midweek.

Stefan Bell salvaged a last-gasp point for Mainz to end Freiburg's recent revival with a 2-2 draw at the Coface Arena.

Mainz took the lead through Junior Diaz, but Jonathan Schmid and Admir Mehmedi turned the game in Freiburg's favour, before Bell had the final say in the 88th minute.
