Marco Reus had to be taken off on a stretcher to compound Borussia Dortmund's troubles as they blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Paderborn.
Reus gave Dortmund a 2-0 lead in first-half stoppage time, after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring, before an ankle problem led to him being withdrawn just after Lukas Rupp pulled one back for the hosts.
The Germany international's injury was just the latest blow to a season that has so far failed to take off for Dortmund and Mahir Saglik's late equaliser made it even more miserable for the 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga champions.
Dortmund now sit one place above the drop zone after Hertha Berlin moved above them and if the remaining results do not go their way this weekend they could find themselves back in the bottom three.
