Germany keeper in talks over new deal, according to agent

Manuel Neuer's agent has rejected reports the goalkeeper has refused to pen a new contract at Schalke. The Germany No.1, who helped his side to an emphatic 5-2 victory at Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday night, has been linked with a host of top European clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United. Schalke are keen to keep Neuer at the Bundesliga club, but German newspaper BILD recently reported the 25-year-old does not want to extend his contract, which expires in June 2012. However, the shot-stopper's agent Bernhard Schmittenbecher has played down such rumours, and maintains he is in talks over a new deal with the German side. "Manuel has not signed elsewhere," Schmittenbecher told Sportinformationsdienst. "It is a fact we are in continuous talks with the people at Schalke. This is not something new. "Obviously we're not going to reveal the contents of these talks. We are not going public with anything like this."
