Hoffenheim battle back for draw as Hertha slump to defeat

Hoffenheim are back on top of the Bundesliga table after Hertha Berlin lost to Wolfsburg. While Hoffenheim were held to a 3-3 draw at Stuttgart, Wolfsburg came from a goal down to beat Hertha 2-1. Hoffenheim had led at Stuttgart through Demba Ba before the home side came roaring back through Cacau. Ba's second cancelled out Mario Gomez's effort before his third nullified Gomez's second as the points were shared in a thrilling draw. Hertha had led 1-0 at Wolfsburg through Cicero's effort. A goal that, at that stage, saw the visits four points clear of Hoffenheim. But as Hoffenheim helped themselves to a draw against Stuttgart, Wolfsburg fought back to claim all three points thanks to Edin Dzeko's brace. Bayern Munich have lost ground of the leaders after slumping to a 2-1 defeat to Cologne at the Allianz Arena. Fabrice Ehret and Daniel Brosinski both scored for the visitors while Daniel van Buyten's late response proved nothing more than a consolation. At the foot of the table Borussia Monchengladbach and Energie Cottbus have boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop thanks to home wins. Gladbach got the better of Hannover 3-2 in a five-goal thriller while Energie overcame Werder Bremen 2-1. The home side squandered a two-goal home advantage before veteran striker Oliver Neuville spared their blushes with an 83rd minute winner. Energie battled back from a goal down to beat mid-table Werder thanks to second half goals from Ivica Illiev and Dimitar Rangelov. Eintracht Frankfurt have moved away from the bottom three after substitute Caio gave them a 1-0 success over lowly Karlsruhe. Bochum were close to securing a priceless three-point haul at Arminia Bielefeld before Andre Mijatovic scored a late leveller for the home side.
