Leaders PSV Eindhoven registered their sixth successive Eredivisie victory on Wednesday as they defeated Excelsior 1-0 at the Philips Stadion.
Hirving Lozano slotted home in the 17th minute having been teed up by a delightful Luuk de Jong flick, 10 minutes after PSV's crossbar had been rattled by a Mike van Duinen shot.
PSV are seven points clear of second-placed Ajax, who won 4-2 at second-bottom Roda JC.
For the second game in a row the Amsterdammers came from behind to triumph, this time going 1-0 down when Simon Gustafson scored in the third minute.
Donny van de Beek levelled in the 12th, a superb Hakim Ziyech strike put Ajax in front 13 minutes later and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar made it 3-1 with 15 minutes to go.
Jorn Vancamp replied for the home side before Huntelaar swiftly added his second.
Third-place AZ Alkmaar beat 10-man FC Twente 4-0 at De Grolsch Veste.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored an early penalty and, after Cristian Cuevas was dismissed in the 73rd minute, AZ scored three times in the last few minutes, Jahanbakhsh adding his second following a brace from Wout Weghorst.
NAC Breda outscored both Ajax and AZ, thumping Heracles Almelo 6-1 at home, and swapped places with Twente in the table, moving up from 16th to 15th.
Rai Vloet, Thierry Ambrose, Manu Garcia, Mitchell te Vrede, Mounir El Allouchi and Sadiq Umar all scored for the hosts. Heracles, who had made it 1-1 early on through Vincent Vermeij, had Tim Breukers sent off with the score 3-1.
Elsewhere, substitute Lukas Gortler's late goal secured FC Utrecht a 1-0 home win over rock-bottom Sparta Rotterdam, their first victory under Jean-Paul de Jong, and Willem II beat VVV-Venlo 3-0 at home with Bartholomew Ogbeche, Ben Rienstra and Jordy Croux getting the goals.
