Fernando Torres thinks England are ready for the World Cup final if they can overcome mental barriers.
Spanish superstar believes Three Lions can reach final
Fernando Torres believes that England are ready to reach the World Cup final if they can overcome the psychological barrier of previous failures.
The Liverpool and Spain striker is in a race against time to recover for this summer's tournament in South Africa after undergoing a second knee operation of 2010.
But Torres, if fit, would then want England to reach their first final since 1966 in order to provide the perfect opponents for his country.
European champions Spain are among the favourites to be crowned the best side on the planet, however, Torres also thinks that Fabio Capello's Three Lions need only to conquer their quarter-final demons from the past.
"If England can overcome their mental barrier then Spain versus England would be the perfect World Cup final," Torres told the Daily Express.
"People say that Spain have the best starting XI in the world, but when you look at England on paper, they have the second strongest XI in the world.
"In John Terry and Rio Ferdinand they have two of the best defenders. Stevie Gerrard is the greatest central midfielder on the planet and Wayne Rooney is one of the in-form players in football along with Lionel Messi.
"It's hard to see a weakness in the England team. All they need to do now is break the mental barrier that going out at the quarter-final stage creates."
