Le Havre teenager Samba Diop dies aged 18, Ligue 2 club confirm

Le Havre's 18-year-old defender Samba Diop passed away on Saturday, the Ligue 2 club confirmed.

The club released a statement on Saturday morning, saying they are unsure of the cause of death.

The tweet read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our player Samba Diop.

"This is an extremely difficult time for all of us.

"The entire HAC club extends its deepest condolences to the Samba family."

Le Havre's game against Stade Reims in the second tier of French football was scheduled to take place on Saturday, but has now been postponed.

Diop played in Le Havre's reserve side, and was the vice-captain of the France U19 squad.
