Reds striker suffers groin strain against Seasiders

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson admits he does not know how serious Fernando Torres' injury is after the striker limped off against Blackpool. The Tangerines stunned Anfield with a 2-1 win in the Premier League in a result which piles the pressure on Reds boss Hodgson. Torres limped off after less than 10 minutes on Sunday with a groin problem and the Spaniard was replaced by David Ngog. Hodgson says he still does not know the extent of the injury, and is not aware of when the problem occurred. "He has a groin strain, but I don't know how severe it is," Hodgson said. "They (the medical team) are assessing it at the moment. It happened early in the game which came as a surprise to us. "We were not aware of any problems with the groin. I don't know if it happened during the course of the game when he stretched for the ball. I don't really know." Liverpool will want to put the Blackpool result out of their minds as soon as possible but will have to wait until after the international break until they play Everton in a Merseyside derby.
