Thomas Lemar grabbed his first La Liga goal to help Atletico Madrid to a 2-0 win at Getafe.

The summer signing from Monaco forced the opener, an own goal from goalkeeper David Soria, then grabbed the second as Diego Simeone's team got back on track after a stuttering start to the season during which they earned just five points from their first four games.

Lemar struck the crossbar with a powerful long-range effort and the ball bounced back hitting Soria and crossing the line to send Atletico ahead after 14 minutes.

The visitors struggled to create openings at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez but eventually, Lemar put the finishing touch on a quick counter-attack after an hour to net his first goal since his summer move, before Getafe winger Ivan Alejo was sent off four minutes after coming on.

Alaves' superb start to the season continued as they shot up to third with a 5-1 win at Rayo Vallecano.

Ximo Navarro put the visitors ahead before Raul De Tomas levelled on the half-hour mark, but Alaves were soon in front again through Ibai Gomez.

Former West Ham forward Jonathan Calleri then sobuled the advantage, before Gomez grabbed his second and substitute Burgui added a fifth in injury time.

Celta went 2-0 up inside 10 minutes through Maximiliano Gonzales and Iago Aspas, and restored that two-goal advantage with a second Aspas strike after Oscar Plano had pulled one back.

But substitute Enes Unal began the fight-back with 25 minutes to go, and Valladolid pulled level for the first time when Suarez struck in the dying seconds.
