Hamilton have kicked off their January recruitment with the signing of former Blackpool striker Steve Davies.

The 31-year-old racked up spells at Derby, Bristol City, Sheffield United, Bradford and Rochdale and becomes Martin Canning's first new arrival this month after leaving Bloomfield Road.

Speaking to AcciesTV, Davies said: "Hopefully I can bring goals first and foremost. I've played in some top divisions back in England and I've always scored goals.

Canning was on the lookout for a new frontman after seeing Mason Bloomfield and Fredrik Brustad both recalled by parent clubs Norwich and Molde respectively.

He said: "We're really pleased to get the deal for Steve over the line. It's been clear that we need to add more firepower to the squad and we've been working away trying to bring in the right quality.
