Sky Sports' survey to find the best player ever to wear a Darlington shirt is reaching a conclusion - and we would like you to get involved. We asked fans of each of the 92 English League teams and Scottish Premier League sides to nominate their all-time favourite footballers. Short-lists have now been compiled from those selections for each club and you can now cast your votes for your all-time great. Marco Gabbiadini scored 48 goals in 81 matches for the Quakers, despite being described as past his best when he signed. His goals made him an obvious favourite with the fans, but is he the greatest ever Darlington player? Craig Liddle was so popular with supporters that a beer was named after him by a local brewery. One of only a handful of players to make over 300 Quakers appearances, Liddle retired in 2005 after many injuries. Was Liddle the club's greatest ever player? Alan Walsh holds the record of being the club's all-time leading goalscorer, finding the net 90 times in league action between 1978 and 1984, while Ron Greener racked up a record 442 league appearances from 1955 to 1968. Do either man get your vote to be Darlo's all-time great? Goalkeeper Andy Collett will be remembered for numerous match-winning displays and heroic performances, or does popular midfielder Steve Gaughan deserve your support? To make your selection please complete the attached poll and we will collate the results. Once all votes are cast we will reveal the winners ahead of the 2009/10 season and crown Darlington's greatest-ever player!
