Celtic begin defence of Scottish Cup against Airdrieonians

Rangers travel to League Two Cowdenbeath as Steven Gerrard gets his first taste of Scottish Cup action

Holders Celtic will host League One Airdrieonians in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, while rivals Rangers travel to Cowdenbeath.

Airdrieonians, who sit fifth in the League One table, lost 1-0 to Celtic in the 1995 final. Stenhousemuir, who beat Aberdeen en route to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals - also in 1995 - will get the chance to repeat history after being handed a trip to play the Dons at Pittodrie.

The fourth round features two all-Premiership affairs, with Hamilton Academical travelling to St Johnstone and Hearts hosting Livingston.

Last year's beaten finalists Motherwell were handed a home draw against Ross County, who were relegated from the Scottish Premiership last season.

And Ayr have been handed another derby against a team from the Ayrshire Juniors ranks. They were handed a trip to face Auchinleck Talbot after beating Beith 3-0.

The draw was made immediately after the majority of the third-round ties were decided, and was conducted by Dave MacKay, captain of 2014 Scottish Cup winners St Johnstone, and Edinburgh-born 2014 Commonwealth boxing gold medallist Josh Taylor.
