A second Russia fan has been detained by German authorities in relation to attacks upon England supporters at Euro 2016.

England fans were targeted in Marseille during their fixture with Russia, in events which were captured on camera.

The supporter is the second to be detained by German authorities, with a 31-year-old male facing up to 15 years in jail in France for attempted homicide and grievous bodily harm.

French authorities issued an arrest warrant for the Russian suspect in December 2017 after months of work with British police to identify the perpetrators of the assault

Deputy Chief Constable Mark Robert, of football policing, issued the following statement: "A second Russian suspect was detained by German authorities in relation to the attacks on England supporters in Marseilles.

"The arrests have been made on behalf of the French investigators who have been supported by UK officers in securing European Arrest Warrants.
