Roberto Mancini has again played down reports that Carlos Tevez could join Inter Milan as part of a swap deal involving Samuel Eto'o.

City boss would be happy if striker decided to stay after Inter link

Roberto Mancini has again played down reports that Carlos Tevez could join Inter Milan as part of a swap deal involving Samuel Eto'o and insists the striker could stay at Manchester City. Tevez had appeared set to leave City earlier in the transfer window after asking to be allowed to move on, however, a switch to Brazilian side Corinthians fell through. Inter have since been mooted as the European club most likely to sign Tevez, with City rumoured to want £50million for the Argentina international. There have been suggestions that Eto'o could join City in part exchange to help facilitate Tevez's switch to Italy, but Mancini has cooled those rumours. Mancini is waiting for Tevez to return to City following his holiday and is keeping an open mind regarding whether he can pair the forward with his compatriot, and new signing, Sergio Aguero. "Tevez is our player and I am happy with him," said Mancini after the City boss saw his side beat an Airtricity XI in the Dublin Cup. "Eto'o is a fantastic player, but he plays for Inter Milan. It's not true (about a swap deal). "Tevez will return on 4th August. It depends on how he arrives, if he's in good form. He has a programme of training. "He can play in this team, he can play in the Champions League. "There's a chance he might go, but then there's a chance he might stay here with us now and, if so, we are happy."
