MUGGLETON SIGNS FOR TOWN

CHELTENHAM TOWN have snapped up Stoke City keeper Carl Muggleton, after he was released by the Potteries outfit.

The experienced shot-stopper joins on a free transfer after agreeing a two-year contract, with the option of a third season at Whaddon Road.

"He's played a lot of league games and his signing strengthens an area that I felt needed it," said Town boss Steve Cotterill.

The 32-year-old former Leicester man will compete with Steve Book and Shane Higgs for the number one jersey, and he will be joined at the club by a mystery wide man from The Premiership, providing Cotterill can tie up the deal.

Stoke may look to the top flight themselves in their bid to find a replacement for Muggleton, with director of football John Rudge confirming: "One of our options is to look at a third or fourth choice keeper from a Premiership club."

Cheltenham have already added to their ranks this summer by signing Rochdale's Keith Hill, and the transfer activity will not end there for Cotterill.
