Saunders extends Gills stay

GILLINGHAM midfielder Mark Saunders has signed a contract extension at the Priestfield Stadium.

The new deal will keep the 31-year-old at the club until the summer of 2005.

Saunders has established himself as a key member of the side since arriving from Plymouth in 1995.

Gills chairman Paul Scally was delighted to have extended the midfielder's stay.

"This is fantastic news for every body connected with Gillingham Football Club," said Scally. "Mark has been a model professional since joining the club."
