Swift recovery for Larsson

CELTIC goal machine Henrik Larsson made a successful comeback from injury in the Uefa Cup clash against Liverpool, and the Swede claims he was itching to play a fortnight ago.

The Swedish international fractured his cheekbone during a match against Livingston on February 9, but returned for the crucial first leg of the crunch tie at Celtic Park, after only returning to training on Sunday. Despite this, Larsson is not surprised by his swift return to action.

"I am not too surprised. I wanted to play two weeks ago, but I was told that it was medically impossible," said Larsson.

"Last Sunday, I resumed training and there was no reaction. From there it's just got better every day."

Larsson will still need to see a dentist, but has otherwise recovered from the cheekbone fracture.

"The teeth are not all in order, but I will get them fixed in the near future."

The striker had given Celtic the lead as early as the second minute of the match, after a whirlwind start by The Bhoys.

"John Hartson had the ball on the right and sent it to me. The ball went past me but reached Alan Thompson who crossed the ball back in," explained Larsson.

"I saw the ball very late, and therefore tried to steer it in with the knee and it worked."

Unfortunately for Larsson and the Glasgow outfit, Liverpool equalised shortly after through a neat finish from Emile Heskey on 17 minutes. They now face the daunting task of going to Anfield and going for victory, yet Larsson is unfazed by the task ahead.

"It would have been terrific if we could have kept the 1-0 lead, but this match is far from finished. We still have got a chance," declared Larsson.
