Dundee rely on Ravanelli

Fabrizio Ravanelli inspired Dundee to a comfortable win over first division Clyde in the CIS Cup, while Hearts and Livingston progressed by single goal margins in the two other ties.

Former Juventus forward Ravanelli bagged a seven minute hat-trick at Broadwood after first division side Clyde had stunned the SPL outfit with a second minute strike from Pat Keogh.

Nacho Novo levelled matters just two minutes later and Lee Wilkie put Dundee in front on 66.

Ravanelli then grabbed his first on 73 and quickly scored again just a minute later in only his second game for the club.

Clyde refused to give in and hit back through Mark Gilhaney before Ravanelli added his third with ten minutes left.

Goalkeeper Paul Gallagher scored an unfortunate own goal to give Livingston a win against Dundee United at Tannadice.

The other game of the evening saw Hearts squeeze through thanks to a late goal from Andy Kirk.

Mark De Vries had opened the scoring for Hearts after 54 minutes but Falkirk replied soon after with a goal from former Hibernian man Russell Latapy.

As the tie looked to be heading for extra time Kirk popped in the winner on 86 minutes and the win helped erase the memories of the SPL club's humiliating defeat to Falkirk in last year's Scottish Cup.
