Bantams land Aussie keeper

The 28-year-old, who played in Australia's National Soccer League for Northern Spirit last season, joined The Bantams for a trial after an unsuccessful trial spell at Blackpool last month.

Bantams boss Colin Todd decided to keep Henderson (pictured) in order to provide competition for loan signing Donovan Ricketts.

The Jamaican international is still awaiting international clearance to play for his new club this season. 

With Ricketts also facing the prospect of being on international duty this month with The Reggae Boyz, Todd has given Henderson the opportunity to win the number one jersey following the close season departures of goalkeepers Mark Paston and Alan Combe.

"I will take who I think is the best in the position," Todd told the Telegraph & Argus.

"There is no obvious first choice and it's down to the keepers themselves.

"You need competition and bringing in Henderson will provide that. He is keen to play and I've been impressed with him so far."

Bradford face Neale Cooper's Hartlepool United at Victoria Park on Saturday to start the new season.
