Dean Gordon is currently on trial with Sunderland and has not joined League Two outfit Grimsby Town.The former Middlesbrough defender has been looking for a new club after leaving Coventry City earlier this summer.
Gordon is wanted by Grimsby, but he is trying to earn a contract with Sunderland before speaking with The Mariners.
The ex-England Under-21 full back will play for The Black Cats' second string against Birmingham City on Wednesday.
