Sutton injury fear

Celtic are sweating on the fitness of Chris Sutton, after he suffered a shoulder injury.

Celtic are sweating on the fitness of Chris Sutton, after the striker suffered a shoulder injury during the shock home defeat to Aberdeen.

Sutton was hurt during The Bhoys' 3-2 reverse to Aberdeen in The SPL on Wednesday and was forced off after an hour.

The former Blackburn Rovers ace is due to undergo an X-ray on the complaint with Celtic boss Martin O'Neill anxious to learn the results.

"Chris fell down after laying on the first goal and he felt something in his shoulder," said O'Neill.

"It is uncomfortable but he will have an X-ray tomorrow (Thursday)."

Meanwhile, another Celtic injury victim - Shaun Maloney - has returned to full training after he damaged knee ligaments back in February.

Maloney could return to action before Christmas although O'Neill is wary about rushing the player back in to the team.

He added: "It's great news that Shaun's back in training and I'm delighted for him.

"But I wouldn't get too carried away with it just because he's back in full training.

"Put it this way, if we can have Shaun Maloney playing for us before Christmas, I'll be delighted."
