Davids concedes Spurs doubts

Edgar Davids admits the recent bombings in the capital caused him to think hard.

Tottenham new boy Edgar Davids admits the recent bombings in the capital caused him to think hard before accepting a move to White Hart Lane.

The tenacious Dutch midfielder received a rapturous reception in North London on Saturday as he made his Spurs bow as a substitute against Porto in a pre-season friendly.

Davids, 32-years-old, concedes that recent events in London had left him uneasy but after contemplation, he concluded that a move to Tottenham was a prospect too tempting to resist.

Expectations are high at Tottenham for the new season and after receiving a fantastic reception, Davids is looking forward to the campaign with relish.

''Yes, of course, what happened made me think,'' admitted Davids.

''But I took the view that I had to show the people we are professionals and we should carry on giving them what they enjoy.

''I've not only come here to be a teacher. I'm expecting to learn as much from the others as they from me.

''I've never experienced anything like it. Yes, it was awesome, fantastic for a warm up match.

''From this game it is obvious we have very special players.''
