Swedes sweet on Sheri

Djurgardens are planning an audacious bid to sign Teddy Sheringham from West Ham.

Swedish side Djurgardens are planning an audacious bid to sign veteran striker Teddy Sheringham from West Ham.

Sheringham is in the twilight of his career and he faces stiff competition for places at Upton Park, with Alan Pardew blessed with an array of striking talent at his disposal.

Djurgardens would appear to be aware of the situation in East London and fancy trying to sign a player who turned out for them in the mid 1980s.

"It's not a long-term solution, but it would be a spectacular transfer," Djurgardens director Bo Anderson told Fotboldirekt.

"He knows us; there are people at the club who were here when he played for us."

Sheringham said recently he is champing at the bit to make an impact and it remains to be seen if he fancies moving to Scandinavia at this stage of his career.
