Hibernian turned up the heat on Hearts after moving to within two points of their city rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership as they crushed Hamilton 6-0.

Stevie Mallan scored twice, while strikes from Martin Boyle, Emerson Hyndman, Flo Kamberi and a Matt Kilgallon own goal handed Neil Lennon's team a handsome victory.

And it means Craig Levein's Tynecastle table-toppers now head to Ibrox for Sunday's showdown with Rangers with their Edinburgh neighbours breathing down their necks.

Hamilton stay ninth, but on the evidence of this desperate display look destined for yet another fight for survival.

Three Aberdeen players netted their first goals for the club as the Dons overcame an eight-strong injury list and the loss of the influential defender Scott McKenna to suspension to comfortably beat St Mirren 4-1.

Sam Cosgrove got the ball rolling for the Dons with a 26th-minute header, before Connor McLennan and Max Lowe also found the net before the interval.

Cosgrove added a fourth with 25 minutes left before Simeon Jackson bagged a consolation for the visitors.

A controversial penalty from Eamonn Brophy consigned Dundee to a 12th home defeat of 2018 as Kilmarnock came from behind to win 2-1 on Tayside.

Brophy netted the winner in the 54th minute after Jordan Jones - who had levelled for the visitors in the 17th minute - went down under minimal contact from Cammy Kerr.

Referee Steven McLean handed Kilmarnock another penalty later in the game but former Dundee player Greg Stewart saw his effort saved by Elliott Parish.

Keaghan Jacobs was the saviour for Livingston as they extended their Premiership unbeaten run to seven games with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at struggling Motherwell.

Ryan Bowman's first-half strike was cancelled out by a breathtaking Jacobs free-kick with the Lions now without defeat since the opening-day loss to champions Celtic.

The Steelmen did have chances in what was a fiercely-contested match, but are now five games without a win although they did halt a four-game losing streak.
