Janoi Donacien will remain with Newport until the end of the season after extending his loan from Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old centre-back has made 14 appearances for the Exiles since linking up with the Sky Bet League 2 club in September.
"I'm enjoying my time here and glad to be playing games," Donacien told the club's official website.
"Right now the team are playing well and we just want to keep picking up points between now and the end of the season.
"I am now back to full fitness and it's great that the manager has shown great faith in me by putting me straight back into the starting XI."
Donacien was set to return to Villa Park after Monday's defeat by Plymouth but can now focus on helping to steer 20th-placed Newport away from the foot of the table.
"It's a boost to have Janoi staying," Exiles manager John Sheridan said.
"He is a young player and there are aspects of his game that he has to improve, but he has a good attitude and has got a great deal of pace.
"I believe in him and I trust he will be a good asset for us."
