Andre Gray insists this season has been "one of the best in the club's history" despite Watford losing 6-0 to Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

The Hornets fell victim to a ruthless Manchester City team at Wembley last Saturday as Pep Guardiola's side became the first ever men's team to complete an English domestic treble.

But, Gray maintains that the club has the ability to bounce back from the defeat, after Watford reached an FA Cup final for the first time since 1983-84.

Gray told the club's website: "We've had one of our best seasons in the club's history so we deserved to be here.

"Now we need to try and step up and do even better than we did this season.

"That's how we need to take it now and I'm sure we'll come back next year a lot stronger."

The 27-year-old has 14 goals in 67 appearances for Watford since arriving from Burnley in 2017, and has helped them to an 11th-placed finish in the league this term.

Gray heeded his manager's words after the final whistle on Saturday, with Javi Gracia believing the final would prove "a good experience for the future."

"We've got the summer now and then pre-season so we've got a lot of time to dust ourselves down", Gray added.
