Palace defender opts for move to the Valley
Charlton Athletic have signed Mark Hudson on a free transfer from local rivals Crystal Palace.
Hudson had rejected a new contract at Selhurst Park and Palace boss Neil Warnock was expecting the defender to link up with Iain Dowie at Queens Park Rangers.
However, Charlton have announced that the 26-year-old has accepted a three-year contract at the Valley.
Addicks boss Alan Pardew is delighted with his first recruit since the end of the regular Championship campaign and expects Hudson to make an impact next season.
Overjoyed
"Unfortunately for us, Mark was brilliant for Palace last season and I'm absolutely overjoyed with his signing," Pardew told the club's
official website.
"He's a player I have admired for a long time.
"I think he will be a fantastic player for us, not only on the playing side, but off the pitch as well.
"He is a strong character and represents everything that is good about professional football, and I look forward to working with him and seeing him in our team next season."
