Extension to transfer deadline

The Premier League has announced that clubs will be granted dispensation to complete transfers after 5pm.

Premier League will allow clubs to go beyond 5pm cut-off

The Premier League has announced that clubs will be granted dispensation to complete transfers after Monday's 5pm deadline. Heavy snow has caused chaos across the country, making it difficult for players, agents and managers to travel for meetings to discuss terms and undertake medicals. After discussing the situation with the Football Association and Fifa, the Premier League has agreed to extend the deadline for deals to be completed. However, clubs will need to provide proof that a deal had been agreed prior to the existing deadline and the only reason formalities were not completed in time was because of the inclement weather.

Confirmation

A statement from the Premier League read: "The Premier League has announced that it will grant applications from clubs to complete transactions after the 5pm deadline provided that: - the board receives email confirmation from the two clubs involved that a deal has been agreed in principle; and - the club signing the player can satisfy the board that the prevailing weather conditions have prevented the signing from being completed by the 5pm deadline. "The board will take a decision on a case-by-case basis as to when the registration documents have to be submitted after taking into consideration weather conditions and ability to travel."
