Larkin ruled out, Pools considering changes

Northampton will be without forward Colin Larkin against Hartlepool, who are considering defensive changes. Larkin picked up a hamstring injury in training last week and after missing the 3-1 win at Crewe will again sit out. Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa is carrying a shin injury but should again start after scoring his seventh goal of the season at Gresty Road. Gray said: "We had to shut Bayo down at the start of the week but you saw at Crewe how important a player he is for us and the most important thing is for us to get him out on the pitch." Captain Chris Doig is now fit after a groin injury but may be forced to sit on the bench as Jason Crowe has excelled at centre-half.

      Pools team news

Ben Clark could be drafted into the Hartlepool defence as Danny Wilson looks to shore up a porous backline. Pools are having no problems in the scoring department - they have netted 10 in their last three home league games - but worryingly they are also leaking them at the other end, conceding 10 in their last four matches. Clark has been on the bench for the last three games after overcoming a badly bruised ankle but may now be handed a starting spot. Striker Kevin Kyle is expected to keep his place after starting in a three-pronged attack in last Friday's 3-3 draw at home to Swindon. He will be alongside Joel Porter who scored a hat-trick to snatch Pools a point after they found themselves three goals down. Long-term absentee Willie Boland (knee) could be back in training in a fortnight.
