Whites go in search of cup repeat in league action

Leeds will be hoping for a repeat of their FA Cup heroics on Tuesday when they travel to Northampton. The Cobblers were brushed aside 5-2 in a first round replay at Sixfields earlier this month and will be aware that a similar result this time around will consign them to a fourth defeat in their last six League One outings. Promotion-chasing Leeds, meanwhile, will be hoping to add some consistency to their league form after losing three of their last four on the road.

Northampton team news

Northampton manager Stuart Gray will again be without four key players as he prepares for a crunch encounter on home soil. Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa continues to be unavailable with a calf problem while captain Chris Doig is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Defensive midfielder Abdul Osman is also still out with a knee injury while forward Colin Larkin (thigh) completes the missing quartet. The Cobblers recorded their first win in seven games at Hereford on Saturday and saw midfielder Giles Coke return as an 88th-minute substitute after a knee injury. Gray has also extended Scott McGleish's loan spell from Wycombe and may call upon the veteran striker in midweek.
Leeds team news
Malcolm Christie must wait a while longer before being handed his second Leeds appearance. The former Derby and Middlesbrough striker, who is hoping to win a permanent deal at Leeds, made his debut in last week's FA Cup win, but is struggling with bruised ribs and missed Saturday's win over Hartlepool. Manager Gary McAllister has no other new injury or suspension problems. Defensive pair Alan Sheehan (hamstring) and Paul Huntington could return to contention following their respective injuries, while skipper Frazer Richardson, Jonny Howson and Neil Kilkenny will be hoping to play some part. The trio were unused substitutes against Hartlepool, but could feature as Leeds embark on the fourth match of a run of five in 15 days.
