Sky Bet League Two leaders Swindon clinched a crucial 1-0 victory in the promotion race thanks to Jordan Lyden's late winner against Northampton.
The game was heading for a goalless draw until Lyden headed home with 12 minutes remaining to maintain Swindon's two-point lead at the top of the division.
Eoin Doyle shot tamely at David Cornell inside the first minute before opposing goalkeeper Steven Benda was forced into more strenuous action when getting down superbly to tip Mark Marshall's low shot around the post.
Chances were few and far between in the first half as Cornell made another comfortable stop from Doyle and then Benda beat away Sam Hoskins' 20-yard shot.
Diallang Jaiyesimi fluffed his lines when he only had a defender to beat in the second half and the same man side-footed a second effort wide just moments later.
But Swindon were starting to turn the screw and their pressure paid off after 78 minutes when Lyden timed his run to perfection to head in Doyle's high cross.
The Cobblers had no response after that and slipped to a second-straight home defeat to remain sixth.
