Norwich boss Daniel Farke is adamant his players are happy with his training methods ahead of Brentford's visit to Carrow Road on Friday.

On Thursday, media reports claimed Farke is facing a revolt because players feel they are training too much.

But Farke praised the spirit among the players despite a poor run of results and dismissed the story.

The German went through Norwich's training this week, which only included one double session, and told a press conference reported: "If that is too much for a professional footballer then we have to say we only meet for the games and in the week we can have some Christmas cake and drinks. That wouldn't work.

"I don't think it is too hard for the players. We always try to find a good workload. It mentioned in the article that one or two players are not content with the workload. I don't think so.

"I don't have to speak about our togetherness. I have praised the atmosphere all season. The attitude is outstanding for a professional football club. I can't imagine on this level of football there is another dressing room like it."

Norwich have lost six and won just one of their last nine fixtures to slip to 16th in the Championship table ahead of Friday's home clash with Brentford.

Farke will be without the injured trio of Wes Hoolahan, Cameron Jerome and James Husband, but captain Ivo Pinto is available and a late decision will be made about Jamal Lewis.

Brentford sit a single point above Norwich, and one player hoping to play a starring role at Carrow Road is young striker Sergi Canos.

The 20-year-old joined Norwich from Liverpool in July 2016, but struggled for opportunities and moved to Brentford after only six months.

Brentford will certainly hope to avoid a repeat of the same fixture 12 months ago, when they were thumped 5-0.

Boss Dean Smith said: "We don't normally do a debrief in the dressing room after the game, but we did there and some good stuff came out of it.

"We have learned from that experience and moved forward. That was a one-off game and we haven't really seen one of them again, and hopefully we won't."

Opta stats

Norwich have won 11 of their last 13 home league matches against the Bees (D1 L1), winning 5-0 in this fixture last season.

Brentford have failed to score in four of their last five league matches against Norwich (W1 D1 L3).

Brentford have lost a league-high 21 points from winning positions this season in the Championship.

Norwich City have made 60 changes to their starting XI in total this season; more than any other club in the Championship.

The Bees have scored the highest tally (24) and the highest proportion (73 per cent) of their Championship goals in the second half of games this season.

Only bottom club Birmingham City (4.4 per cent) have a lower shot conversion rate than Norwich City (6.9 per cent) in the Championship this season.

Team news

Captain Ivo Pinto has recovered from hamstring trouble but James Husband (groin) is still not ready to return. Teenage defender Jamal Lewis is poised to make his first appearance in the senior squad since sustaining a knee injury in pre-season.

Brentford will be without Josh Clarke and have a doubt over Ollie Watkins. Right-back Clarke is unavailable after rolling his ankle against Barnsley last weekend and forward Watkins is also carrying an ankle niggle.

Striker Lasse Vibe could return to the squad after recovering from a hamstring injury. Defender Henrik Dalsgaard (heel) is back in training but might not be risked while midfielder Alan Judge is still building up his fitness after a broken leg.
