Magpies out to pile pressure on Alex

Two clubs without a full-time manager meet at Meadow Lane as Notts County entertain Crewe Alexandra. The Magpies, who are still searching for a successor to Ian McParland, will be hoping to break a run of three consecutive draws and close on the automatic promotion places in League Two. Alex, who remain under the guidance of interim boss Dario Gradi, have lost six of their last seven and need to re-establish some stability if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.

    County team news

Notts County have a fully-fit squad ahead of the weekend encounter. On-loan Nottingham Forest full-back Brendan Moloney has recovered from the hamstring injury that has ruled him out for much of the month. Following another eventful week at Meadow Lane which has seen director of football Sven Goran Eriksson linked with the Swedish national team job and the club's takeover finally ratified by the Football League, caretaker boss Dave Kevan is keen to get back to on-field matters. "Things have been a bit hectic recently and you do your best not to let it affect the players, but it is nice to have a home game and be back in front of our own fans," said Kevan. County have drawn their last three league matches and Kevan has emphasised the importance of ending that run with a victory on Saturday. He added: "It's important that we win our home games and pick up points where we can on the road - like we did at Rotherham last week. Three points would keep us in that leading pack at the top of the table and in a healthy position."
    Crewe team news
Defender Danny O'Donnell and striker Anthony Elding look set to overcome injuries in time for Crewe's trip to the Midlands. O'Donnell limped out of training on Monday with a slight groin strain but, after responding well to treatment, he is expected to resume training ahead of the clash. With on-loan centre-half Harry Worley (ankle) definitely out, youngster Harry Davis is on standby to make his first-team debut should O'Donnell suffer a set-back. Elding has had blood drained from under a toenail after sustaining the injury in the derby defeat to Port Vale and should be in contention for a starting place, especially if Calvin Zola is ruled out. Zola suffered a groin strain last weekend and, although scans have revealed the injury is not as bad as initially feared, he is only rated at 50/50. French goalkeeper Bertrand Bossu may play a part if he chooses to accept the short-term deal that has been offered to him.
