Ryan Taylor scored twice as Ryan Lowe's 10-man Plymouth beat Walsall 3-0 at Home Park to soar up to second in the League Two table.
Argyle got off to the perfect start when Taylor coolly added the finishing touch to Callum McFadzean's near-post cross from the left in the 13th minute.
Lowe's side - already without duo Byron Moore and Joel Grant - suffered another injury blow as forward Dom Telford pulled up, holding his hamstring, as he closed in on goal.
Telford's replacement, on-loan 19-year-old Rangers striker Zak Rudden made an immediate impression on his English Football League and Argyle debut, almost scoring with his first touch.
Striker Elijah Adebayo twice forced saves from Argyle keeper Alex Palmer with Walsall's best efforts on goal.
Substitute Antoni Sarcevic made it 2-0 in the 82nd minute with a thumping low shot after latching onto Danny Mayor's measured forward pass into the penalty area.
Sarcevic was red carded for a midfield challenge on Stuart Sinclair in the 85th minute before Taylor pounced on a bouncing through-ball to rifle home Argyle's third four minutes later.
