Team news for Tuesday night's League Two clash between Port Vale and Shrewsbury at Vale Park.

Hosts likely to be unchanged; McAllister missing for Shrews

Micky Adams is likely to name an unchanged line-up as his table-topping Port Vale side welcome second-placed Shrewsbury to town for a crunch September showdown. Adams' only selection poser could be whether to include Louis Dodds in his XI from the off after admitting he had made a tough decision to drop the wide man in favour of the returning Gary Roberts for Saturday's 2-0 win over Accrington. Roberts contributed with a typically impressive display although Dodds, a late substitute, found the net within two minutes of coming on. Adams has warned his side to remain focused despite rising to the top of the League Two table, and he is expecting a tough test against a Shrews outfit who have looked equally as impressive this term. "It's a local derby against a Shrewsbury side who are flying," he said. "They have good players. "I saw them play against Stoke (in the Carling Cup) where I thought they played particularly well and they have players who can hurt you. We will be ready for it."

    Shrewsbury news

Shrewsbury will be without Sean McAllister for their top-of-the-table clash at Port Vale. The midfielder was forced off just 14 minutes into Saturday's 2-2 draw at Wycombe with a hamstring injury and although it is not as bad as first feared, he is still expected to be out for around a week. Key winger Lionel Ainsworth, having recently recovered from a groin strain, was rested at the weekend but still proved his worth as he came off the bench late on to put Town 2-1 ahead. Manager Graham Turner opted to keep him fresh bearing in mind the club faced two games in four days and he will now definitely start at Vale Park. Shrews looked sharp in training on Monday ahead of the crunch clash, and Turner told Shrews Player: "It's one of those on paper that could be a really cracking game. "They've gone above us at the top of the table, there should be a big crowd there - most of it will be hostile - and we've got to silence that."
