Struggling QPR face in-form Owls

Sheffield Wednesday will look to extend their unbeaten run to five games against Queens Park Rangers. Dexter Blackstock could make a welcome return to the QPR squad after recovering from knee surgery. Centre-half Bob Malcolm should make his Rangers debut after joining on loan from Derby. Striker Marc Nygaard has resumed full training having recovered from the hamstring injury which kept him out of the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace. Defender Pat Kanyuka needs to build up his match fitness following seven months out with a thigh injury, and midfielder Simon Walton is still recovering from his broken leg. Akos Buzsaky, Ben Sahar and Damion Stewart will all be checked over following international duty, while young striker Shabazz Baidoo has moved to League One side Gillingham on loan.

Whelan doubtful for Wednesday

Owls boss Brian Laws may have to do without Glenn Whelan for the trip to Loftus Road because the midfielder is struggling with a hip injury. The midfielder was forced out of Republic of Ireland B's clash with Scotland on Tuesday following a heavy collision and could face a late fitness test so Yoann Folly is on stand-by. Central defender Mark Beevers has shaken off his own hip injury, sustained in a recent reserve-team match, and will be included in the squad and Jermaine Johnson has returned home from international duty with Jamaica unscathed. Laws has no new injury or suspension worries and is unlikely to make too many changes following his side's 5-0 thrashing of Southampton before the international break. Akpo Sodje should retain his place up front alongside Marcus Tudgay after firing a brace against the Saints, although Deon Burton is vying for a start.
