Cobblers and Millers face crunch promotion tie

Northampton will assess the fitness of Liam Davis for the clash at promotion rivals Rotherham. The winger missed Saturday's defeat by Notts County due to a dead leg and manager Ian Sampson has given him a 50/50 chance of playing at the Don Valley Stadium. Goalkeeper Chris Dunn, who has not featured since mid-February due to a knee problem, was back on the bench at the weekend and will battle with Jason Steele for a starting role. Star striker Adebayo Akinfenwa is still struggling with an ankle problem, so Steve Guinan and Billy McKay are likely to start in attack again. Kevin Thornton came off the bench to make a successful return from a knee problem against the Magpies and will be pushing for a start. But Andy Holt (knee) and Stephen O'Flynn (groin) remain sidelined.

Millers news

Rotherham United manager Ronnie Moore could shuffle his pack for the crunch encounter between the play-off rivals. Moore was furious with his team as they went down to a fourth straight defeat at the hands of Morecambe on Saturday and he could tinker with his line-up to rejuvenate their promotion push. The Millers chief had one changed forced upon him for the Christie Park loss after striker Tom Pope broke his foot. The front man had expected to partner Adam Le Fondre but is now ruled out for the season, so Drewe Broughton, Kevin Ellison and on-loan Craig McAllister will all tussle for a starting berth. Elsewhere, Moore is unlikely to have Dale Tonge available as the defender struggles with a foot problem and Gavin Gunning could came back into the fold after being rested.
