Scunthorpe will be without Tony McMahon when they host Burton on Saturday.
The right-back was forced off just before half-time in the draw at Shrewsbury with a hamstring injury. The Iron fear he could miss the remainder of the season as they fight to stay in League One.
Tom Pearce (groin) also had to come off during the game last weekend and he will be assessed. Given Scunthorpe's problems in defence, Levi Sutton (illness) and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (hamstring) have made a timely return to training. Sutton should be available for selection.
Burton defender Jake Buxton looks likely to miss the trip to Glanford Park. The 34-year-old, who has been nursing a couple of minor injury issues in recent weeks, suffered a calf strain late on in the draw at Sunderland on Tuesday night.
In his absence, left-back Damien McCrory could revert to central defence alongside Kyle McFadzean. Kieran Wallace and Colin Daniel are also options for Brewers boss Nigel Clough. Attacking midfielder Will Miller (illness) will be assessed while winger David Templeton (knee) remains out.
Scunthorpe have won each of their three home games against Burton in all competitions by a one-goal margin, including a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup first round earlier in the season.
Burton have failed to score in three of their last four league games against Scunthorpe (W1 D1 L2), not finding the net in either of the last two.
Scunthorpe have won just one of their last nine league games (D2 L6), and are winless in their last four, picking up just one point (D1 L3).
Since losing their last three away games of 2018, Burton have lost just one of their nine games on the road in 2019 (W3 D5).
Five of Burton's last seven League One goals have come in the final 15 minutes of action.
