Team news ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 clash between Scunthrorpe and Port Vale

Jamie Ness and Sean McAllister are in contention for Scunthorpe's League 1 clash with Port Vale.

Midfielder Ness has missed the last three games with a calf injury but returned to training on Thursday, while McAllister has been out since December.

Scott Wiseman and Jim O'Brien have also been on the sidelines but manager Graham Alexander revealed his squad is looking healthier as the Iron bid for a fifth straight win to further their play-off push.

Gary McSheffrey, who hurt his knee while on loan at Doncaster, is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Vale's top-scorer Ajay Leitch-Smith is a doubt for the contest.

Leitch-Smith, scorer of 12 goals in all competitions this season, sat out last weekend's 4-1 win over Rochdale due to a hamstring injury and is being assessed.

Fellow striker Louis Dodds was also absent because of a hamstring problem that has brought his season to an end.

Another Vale man who will not feature again this term is midfielder Anthony Grant, who is serving a three-match suspension.
