Sheff Utd v Oldham preview

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Sheffield United and Oldham at Bramall Lane.

Manager Danny Wilson looks set to make changes to his Sheffield United side. Wilson made three alterations to the team which started the 2-1 win over Scunthorpe on Wednesday, with Johnny Ertl, Ryan Flynn and James Beattie all coming in. However, after a lacklustre first 45 minutes where they trailed against the Iron, Ertl and Beattie were replaced by Stephen Quinn and Richard Cresswell at the half-time interval. They made a sufficient impact, with Quinn scoring the winning goal, to earn likely recalls. Nick Montgomery (calf) missed out against Scunthorpe but returns to contention in the middle of midfield. Fellow midfielder Kevin McDonald faces a few weeks out with a hamstring injury. On-loan striker Will Hoskins continues to push for a starting berth as the Blades aim to protect their five-point lead over third-placed Sheffield Wednesday. Oldham expect to be without attacking midfielder Chris Taylor. Taylor fell ill ahead of Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Colchester at Boundary Park and was sent home before kick-off. The 25-year-old has not returned to training since and boss Paul Dickov will monitor his progress as the Bramall Lane clash approaches. Dickov's options in midfield are starting to look decidedly threadbare in the midst of a hectic fixture schedule, with Dean Furman (knee) and long-term absentee James Wesolowski (shoulder) also absent. Wesolowski and full-back Paul Black (hamstring) may be out for the season and winger Kirk Millar is continuing his rehabilitation after damaging ankle ligaments. Reuben Reid is available having recovered from a troublesome thigh problem but Matt Smith was preferred as a forward option from the bench against Colchester.
