County get playoff hopes back on track after win over Cheltenham
A superb goal from youngster Oli Johnson earned Stockport a 1-0 win which left Cheltenham rooted to the foot of the table.
Stockport started the game at a blistering pace and went close twice inside the opening three minutes. First Leon McSweeney was denied by an excellent Scott Brown save, then Chris O'Grady hit the crossbar with a close-range effort.
Damian Spencer went close for Cheltenham before Stockport took the lead after 31 minutes with a brilliant goal. Gary Dicker touched the ball to Johnson and he powered home a great shot into the top corner from just outside the box.
Johnny Mullins almost doubled Stockport's lead just before the interval when his half-volley flew narrowly wide.
Minutes after the restart, O'Grady struck the woodwork again as he hit the post with a shot following Brown's initial save from Tommy Rowe.
Ian Westlake and Alex Russell came close to a leveller but in the end the hosts hung on for a deserved three points.
