    Gulls' good home form continues

Nicky Wroe's first-half penalty secured Torquay's third successive home league win and a 1-0 victory over Hereford. On-loan Southampton winger Jake Thomson's trickery led to the goal in the 18th minute as he sliced between two Hereford defenders in the penalty area before being brought down by Darren Jones. Torquay penalty specialist Wroe scored with a thumping spot-kick that was out of the reach of diving Bulls keeper Adam Bartlett. It was Wroe's ninth goal of the season and his eighth from the spot. Hereford were proving determined opposition and Lee Mansell had to be on his toes to head a dangerous through ball away from Craig King and towards the grateful clutch of Michael Poke. The Gulls countered with Wayne Carlisle sending a 37th-minute free-kick across the face of goal and a minute later Tyrone Thomson went on an attacking run down the left before cutting in and letting fly with a shot that scraped past the upright. Carlisle twice had to block Hereford efforts at the start of the second half and then Poke made a blocking save with his legs to deny Hereford striker Leon Constantine just after the hour.
