Harry Kane scored twice and Tom Carroll bagged his first ever Premier League goal to give Tottenham a 3-0 Boxing Day victory over Norwich at White Hart Lane.

England international Kane struck the opener from the penalty spot on 26 minutes after he was brought down by Canaries 'keeper Declan Rudd.

Kane then fired home his 11th league goal of the season four minutes before half-time from an acute angle, before substitute Carroll smashed in Tottenham's third with 10 minutes remaining.

Harry Kane was feeling happy after his brace helped Tottenham to a 3-0 win over Norwich on Boxing Day

Norwich had several good chances but Spurs' second successive league victory keeps them in the top four and prevented Norwich building on their impressive away win at Manchester United last weekend.

The visitors worried the hosts early on when Vadis Odjidja, making just his second start as one of two Norwich changes, forced birthday-boy Hugo Lloris into a full-stretched save to his right.

Cameron Jerome should have found the net with an unchallenged header from a corner on 17 minutes, with Lloris stricken from the well-taken corner.

Kane missed with his first effort on goal, firing wide of the far post after Rudd had denied Kyle Walker, but the 22-year-old coolly sent Rudd the wrong way with his penalty after the Norwich 'keeper had rushed out to his feet and sent him tumbling.

Spurs should have quickly doubled their lead from one of a number of good chances, with Toby Alderweireld sending one header wide and another straight at Rudd that Dele Alli followed up, but could not direct past the 'keeper.

But Kane, who scored twice in Tottenham's away win at Southampton before Christmas, made sure his side took a 2-0 lead into the break when he broke into the box and fired low, hard into the far corner from a tight angle on 42 minutes.

With the 2-1 defeat to Newcastle - in which the away side struck twice late on at White Hart Lane - in mind, Spurs made it hard for Norwich to recover with Jerome only managing a tame header at goal before Carroll struck with the home side's third.

Norwich manager Alex Neil felt his side lacked some belief in their 3-0 loss to Tottenham, but didn't think his side played badly, but Spurs played well.

The 23-year-old has been given his chance in recent weeks and picked up the ball from the edge of the box before firing his second of the season into the far corner on 80 minutes.

Norwich substitute Dieumerci Mbokani went close to a consolation late on when a mistake from Walker gave him a close-range half-volley, but Lloris saved and then pushed the ball away the danger before Nathan Redmond could pounce and score.
