Tottenham v Norwich preview

Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City will be looking for a first Premier League win of the season when they do battle at White Hart Lane.

Spurs and Canaries seek first league victories

Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City will both be looking for a first Premier League victory of the season when they do battle at White Hart Lane on Saturday. Spurs went down 2-1 at Newcastle United despite producing a decent display and then had to settle for a draw against West Bromwich Albion after being pegged back by a late equaliser. As well as the on-field frustrations, new manager Andre Villas-Boas has had to deal with a frantic final period in the transfer window. The long-running Luka Modric saga finally came to an end with a move to Real Madrid, providing the club with funds to bring in reinforcements. Villas-Boas will now hope Tottenham can find their best form and surge up the table, just as they did 12 months ago when the end of August signalled a remarkable upturn. Chris Hughton is another new boss who will be targeting improvement following a slow start to the season for Norwich. The Canaries were hammered 5-0 by Fulham on the opening day of the campaign, before playing out a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers last time out. A 2-1 victory over Scunthorpe United in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday will have boosted morale, but Norwich will now want to start climbing the Premier League standings.Midfielder Moussa Dembele could be handed his Tottenham debut as Villas-Boas looks to record his first win of the season against Norwich at White Hart Lane. Steven Caulker could make his first Premier League start after fellow defender Younes Kaboul was ruled out with a knee injury. Scott Parker (Achilles), Giovani Dos Santos (calf) and Heurelho Gomes (ankle) are unavailable.Simon Lappin will miss Norwich's trip with an ankle ligament injury he picked up in the midweek Capital One Cup victory against Scunthorpe. Lappin will be out of action for three weeks, while Robert Snodgrass trained yesterday after suffering a minor leg injury last weekend and should be fit. Goalkeeper Mark Bunn will not make the trip after signing from Blackburn but midfielder Alex Tettey could feature from the bench.
