Crazy last 20 minutes yields four goals in Eredivisie

Steve McClaren's FC Twente suffered a home defeat by Heracles Almelo which meant they missed the chance to move to the top of the Eredivisie. The visitors led at half-time through Everton's 33rd minute goal against the run of play, but Twente levelled in the 73rd minute through Luuk de Jong. Darl Douglas then put Heracles ahead again in the 81st minute and Everton scored again two minutes later, meaning De Jong's second in stoppage time was not enough for the hosts. It was tough luck on McClaren's men, who will come away wondering how they were not ahead by half-time. After 17 minutes, Leroy Fer had a great chance when Willem Janssen picked him out from the right, but he could only head straight into the hands of Remko Pasveer when he had time to pick his spot. Eight minutes later, De Jong was similarly wasteful as he headed straight at Pasveer, then Nacer Chadli fired against the crossbar.

Uncertainty

And they were made to pay when Samuel Armenteros beat Peter Wisgerhof and crossed for Everton, who headed home from six yards showing his Twente counterparts how it should be done. Heracles came out stronger after the break, but it was Twente who threatened after 62 minutes, De Jong again making life too easy for Pasveer with his header. Three minutes later, Janssen did make Pasveer work when his 16-yard strike was finger-tipped past the post by the goalkeeper. Everton's header caused uncertainty for home goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov after 71 minutes, and two minutes later Twente were level - De Jong doing with his feet what he could not with his head and firing an angled drive past Pasveer. Parity lasted eight minutes before Twente's Brazilian defender Douglas failed to notice his namesake in the Heracles attack, who pinched the ball off him and fired home. Twente again had themselves to blame two minutes later when a mix-up between Tim Cornelisse and Mihaylov allowed Everton to nip in and score from eight yards. De Jong nodded home a Douglas cross three minutes into stoppage time, but Twente remained three points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar.
