Walsall v Peterborough preview

Image: Devaney: Could miss out for Saddlers

Team news for Tuesday night's League One clash between Walsall and Peterborough at the Banks's Stadium.

Martin Devaney and Darren Byfield will be assessed ahead of Walsall's home clash against Peterborough. Winger Devaney missed Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield with a late ankle injury and is battling to be fit for a game in which the Saddlers really need to put in a performance in front of their own fans. Striker Byfield saw his lengthy battle to recover from a knee problem suffer a slight setback last week but he is now back on track and hoping to play a part against Posh. On-loan centre-back Andrew Davies continues to miss out, however, with a tear to his thigh muscle. Goalkeeper Jimmy Walker was signed on Friday and duly made his debut at the Galpharm Stadium, and the fans' favourite will remain between the sticks as he makes his first competitive appearance for the Saddlers at the Banks's Stadium since May 2004. Peterborough boss Gary Johnson will hand a debut to Lewin Nyatanga for the trip to face the struggling Saddlers. Nyatanga has been drafted in on loan from Johnson's former side Bristol City in the wake of Saturday's damaging 3-0 home defeat at the hands of runaway leaders Brighton. The centre-half is likely to start which will mean one of record signing Ryan Bennett or Kelvin Langmead will make way. At the other end of the field Posh will be without playmaker George Boyd, who starts a three-match ban after seeing red against the Seagulls. Wide man Tommy Rowe picked up a groin injury at Brentford two weeks ago and is ruled out but forward Lee Tomlin is back from suspension.
