Djilali breaks Dagenham hearts

Kieran Djilali scored the winner four minutes from time as AFC Wimbledon beat rock-bottom Dagenham 2-1.

In a scrappy opening, Ben Reeves spurned the only decent chance for the Daggers when he volleyed over from the edge of the area after seven minutes. Reeves then stung the palms of Seb Brown from close range in the 32nd minute before Brian Woodall sliced horribly wide after good work from Jon Nurse. The visitors continued to threaten, Nurse volleying just over before Byron Harrison finally tested Daggers keeper Jonathan Bond with a firm drive as the half drew to a close. The hosts began the second half strongly and forced Bond into a superb double save after 51 minutes to deny first Jack Midson and then Rashid Yussuff from close range. And it was the Dons who broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Midson unleashed a rising shot from 25 yards which beat Bond with the help of a deflection. Dagenham poured forward in search of an equaliser, and it arrived on 83 minutes when Michael Spillane rose highest to head home Damien McCrory's in-swinging corner. But the hosts got the winner after 86 minutes as substitute Djilali beat Bond with a low volley after Yussuff's hanging cross eventually came to him at the back post.
